Coffee Time

When I had a coffee break today I decided to get out my french press or another name is bodum. For those of you who have never used one, they make really great coffee and I like them as they are so handy if you want to make a different flavored coffee other than what is being served in the drip coffeemaker. My husband liked "regular" coffee and wasn't much for the flavored ones...which I liked to try from time to time. I have three of them and I use the small one quite often, especially when I want just a cup or two of either my regular coffee or one of the flavored ones that I have on hand.....such as a chocolate flavored one...Yummy!! The small one holds close to two cups and the other two hold about a quart. They are very easy to use, just put the ground coffee in them, pour in the boiling water and stir with a plastic utensil(comes with the press)....put the lid on with the plunger pulled up, let set for 4 minutes for the coffee to steep, then slowly press the plunger down.....and presto...you have delicious coffee! The silver one came with an electric warmer which is nice. Honestly..you can't tell the difference between using a press or drip coffee, and they are fun and a nice way to impress your guests too! I first seen one on Martha Stewart and from that time on I couldn't rest until I had one! After all, if it was good enough for Martha, then hey, it was good enough for me!! :)

  3. Mary...thanks for stopping by! I have enjoyed using my french presses, especially when our power would go out due to a storm and I just heated water on the wood stove and with the help of my french press, I didn't have to miss having coffee!

  5. Hi Mary! Good to SEE you, LOL. Love the pic.
I am not for flavored coffee either. Never had a French press. Seems everyone is buying those Keurig machines, I know Carol has one. We still make do with Mr Coffee.
Hope you are well, not much Spring here yet, chilly!

  6. Kathleen, thanks! I have been using my French press for 20 yrs. I think. So many times guests have left vowing to get themselves one! I think you would be impressed with them also... maybe time to give it a try!? lol! It is chilly yet here too and today we got more snow, but only a couple of inches. It was actually pretty out...can't believe I just said that, but have to think positive! :)

  7. We were at Sur La Table yesterday and my oldest son was interested in the French press coffee pots. We may add one to our batery de cusine one of these days.

  8. Hi Sue... I am sure you would like the French press for making coffee. Especially nice if you wanted to offer more than one kind/brand of coffee to your guests. Thanks for visiting!
